Belfonte, Remy, Long, Short and Baldridge sit in a rural stretch of eastern Oklahoma, with Muldrow, Roland and Gans serving as nearby small-town centers. The landscape is shaped by wooded hills, open land and creeks, with hot summers, mild winters and occasional severe storms. Outdoor time can include local roads and trails, fishing and recreation around the Arkansas River and nearby Lake Tenkiller; check access and conditions before setting out. Muldrow and Roland offer casual dining, cafés and everyday shopping, while larger selections are farther afield. Community events and local history give the towns a strong regional character, though nightlife and arts venues are limited. Driving is the practical way to get around, with rural distances and limited public transportation. The area’s quieter pace comes with wide-open views and ready access to outdoor recreation.
