Kensington sits in downtown Toronto, west of Spadina Avenue and near Chinatown and the University of Toronto. Its compact streets and distinctive low-rise storefronts reflect a long history as a market district, with Kensington Market at its heart. The area’s mix of independent food shops, produce stalls, cafés and restaurants gives everyday errands a lively, walkable feel; nearby streets also offer vintage shopping, murals and small cultural venues. Trinity Bellwoods Park, just west of the neighborhood, has open lawns, trails and a playground, while local libraries provide indoor community spaces. The climate brings warm summers and cold, snowy winters, so the neighborhood’s year-round street life shifts with the seasons. Walking, cycling and nearby streetcar and subway connections make getting around without a car practical. For Kensington, Toronto, the median rent is $2,800 per month, with a typical range of $200 to $8,000.
