This is a large, multibedroom house that is shared with up to 16 total occupied rooms, including the one listed. The house is owned by River City Housing Collective (RCHC), and by renting a room with us, you can also have partial ownership as a member of the Board of Directors. RCHC is a nonprofit that is member-run, and all residents are members. This means that as a member, you will get a say in how maintenance is done, ingredients for the house dinners, the Safe Space Policy, and literally every other process that involves you. We have a lot of benefits and responsibilities, and the two cannot be separated. The Benefits (not comprehensive): You get a say in everything. We have house dinners, and there tends to be several a week. Household basics that can be shared tend to be included in the rent, such as paper towels, some food items, cleaning products, and more. The rooms don't come furnished by default, but we do have a lot of spare furniture to offer, including beds. There's a lot of mutual aid here. A climate control closet with space heaters and portable AC units. . The responsibilities: There are requirements to attend meetings, which is where you get your say, mostly, in how things are done. We require members to cook 2 house dinners each a month. We have chore requirements. To be community oriented, and willing to help out where you have capacity and communicate where you don't.
