My home took 15 months to complete from earnest deposit to closing, though given the market this was inevitable. What was overtly frustrating was the process of selecting a lender that Meritage homes would approve. I had a 3% loan offer from my credit union, but Meritage denied them and practically forced me to accept a 4% loan with their in house lender; I felt very coerced though the process and it soured my home buying experience. The neighborhood management team - Meritage's boots on the ground per day - are where this builder truly shines; they continue to care about me and my house, and have made owning my first home the life fulling dream that is should be.

Nearly every part of the experience with meritage homes has been great. I gave 4 stars mostly because there have been areas where my overall impression just wasn’t 5 star prefection.

The home buying experience was ok, we would have liked more communication from the sales staff even a text message or email letting us know when certain things would be happening, like ground breaking, concreate pad being poured or the roof being built. We didn't get introduced to Duke until the very end of construction but once we had a chance to meet him, he was very consistent about giving us updates on what was happening as we got closer to moving in.
