Buffalo Mountain Hunter's Preserve, we call it the Legacy 200. This is a chance of a lifetime to own a substantial chunk of the legendary Buffalo Mountain. Legacy 200 is on the west end of the famous mountain steeped in history and legend. The south property border is on the very top crest and just over the crest to the south a little. There is plenty of area that is nice and level for building sites. The remainder cascades down the mountain to the north, starting at the highest point of 2020' elevation down to the valley below at 900 elevation at the northwest corner of the property. To the south you have majestic views of the Potato Hills and the valley below. Many of the benches of shelves are quite level and wide providing great sites for building food plots and areas to dig water holes for game water. There are tales of Spanish Conquistadors, their gold mines, lost burro trains of gold and Indian attacks on and around Buffalo Mountain and surrounding area. Yes, this whole area has a very rich history and is reported by historians to have been favorite hunting grounds for the Indigenous tribes such as the Caddo, Osage and Quapaw tribes. In fact, modern day hunters report that the Buffalo Mountain is still top tier hunting. There are an abundance of trophy sized White-tailed deer, Eastern Wild Turkey and every other kind of furry little critters that you can think of. Located in Latimer County and only 8.5 miles from downtown Talihina, OK, Legacy 200 is in one of the 13 counties in Oklahoma that has a black bear hunting season. In fact, the state record of 670 pound black bear was taken only a few miles from this hunting preserve. Yes, hunting is legendary here. This 200 Acre Buffalo Mountain Hunting Preserve is comprised of a very nice mix of deciduous and conifer forest. There is an abundance of acorns from white and red oak trees. These acorns, of course, the favorite food source for the wildlife. The Shortleaf Pine and Loblolly Pine trees are abundant, providing colorful scenery during the winter months. You will appreciate the fact that we do have legal access to this awesome property. There is electricity to adjoining properties, therefore, one might be able to procure electricity for a home. There is no rural water lines up on the mountain, one would need to drill a water well or do as many on the mountains do and create a water catchment system. Some call a cistern system to catch rain water. Most folks on the mountain are OFF GRID and use some sort of solar system. At this time, this Buffalo Mountain Hunting Preserve is its early stages of development. The present owners have an insulated storage building and an older camping trailer RV that they use for their getaway hunting and recreational cabin.
