History: As we have gathered, this land was quarried by Monroe Sand & Gravel Ltd. in the 1950s. The land had a fairly high elevation and tons of sand and gravel were extracted to build I-20 and most of Monroe/West Monroe. An assemblage of several tracts were then sold to a Mr.Cox who wished as his Magnum Opus to flatten back out all the massive mountains of overburden back into commercial land in an incredible location, but tragically he passed just before he could begin. His wife inherited the land, but never desired to do anything with it, she passed it on to her niece who lives in WM to this day, and we purchased the ranch in 2021. These abandoned pits have remained untouched for 60 years while mother nature has run her course allowing an entire unique ecosystem to develop and forests mature throughout the massive hills of overburden and deep gravel hollers, with springs that feed streams and ponds, creating native marshland, hardwood bottoms, and pristine lakes- surrounded by land that can be described as "Costs Rica meets Mississippi Bluffs"- 102 acres of unique mountainous land where 70 foot mature pine stands and bottomland alternate- and all this in the most perfect location right within West Monroe's commercial growth corridor! Once you see this place and the architecture that will be created within, you will understand the beauty and see what the architect with his vision conceived. You will want to call this place home!!
