Home purchased in 1986 by Kenneth W. Mailahn through the estate of the previous owners after their passing. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Christy Lee (Vaughn) Mailahn, and survived by his only child, daughter, Hannah Laine Mailahn. House was renovated in 1987. Enclosed front porch was added at this time. In 1989 windows facing the road were replaced due to a drive by shooting incident which shattered the windows. Front door was replaced in 1989, as well, due to a break in. After Kenneth's untimely suicide in the home on March 19, 1993, all property was willed to his minor child, Hannah. Hannah, then being orphaned, was appointed a conservator over the estate. George Francis, then president of Old Kent Bank in Hillsdale, Michigan, was appointed by, then probate court advocate, Michael Nye. George Francis embezzled the, then 12 year old minor child's, funds and property by liquidating the interest from the trust account and retaining monies from the illegal sale of the estate, into his personal account bearing his name although using the child's social security number.
