For those who aren't local; Fort Jones is an old Gold Rush town in rural far Northern CA in an area famous for recreational opportunities (rafting on the Klamath river, hiking the PCT, skiing and mountain climbing Mt Shasta). It is at the North end of Scott Valley. Mt Shasta - 1 hr Medford - 70 miles Redding - 2 hrs College of the Siskiyous - 45 minutes In town there are all the basic services within easy walking distance (bank, library, gas station, Ace hardware, grocery store, several restaurants, coffee ). All the basic options are 17 miles away in Yreka (Starbucks, Walmart, Raleys grocery stores, Tractor Supply, casino, hotels, etc). Medford has all of the big city stuff (all the major chain stores, large hospitals and medical centers, Rogue Valley Airport, etc. There is pubic transit into Yreka, but only 2 trips per day. There is NO public transit option to Medford. The weather is similar to the Sierra foothills; summers are hot, winters are cold, Spring and Fall are genuine seasons.
