When we bought this house, we wanted the charm of a post-war Cape with the reliability of a 1996 Japanese sedan. Every improvement we made over the next decade was guided by that simple idea.
The interior was thoughtfully redesigned with a more open floor plan, remodeled kitchen and bathrooms, a new high-efficiency heating system, energy-efficient windows, fresh interior paint, and new carpeting. Every update was made with durability and long-term ownership in mind—not with the intention of flipping or selling.
Outside, we followed the same philosophy. Major improvements include a new driveway, a new septic system, new roofs on both the home and the detached garage, and a classic brick front porch. Rather than inheriting a list of expensive weekend projects, the next owner steps into a meticulously maintained home.
The property also features a 22' × 24' detached garage/workshop, providing exceptional space for projects, hobbies, storage, or parking. A partially finished lower level offers flexible living or office space, while mature landscaping creates natural privacy throughout the seasons.
The backyard quickly became our favorite room of the house. In early summer, black raspberries ripen along the edge of the yard. Evenings were often spent on the covered patio with the shade screens down, watching the setting sun disappear behind the blaze maple before the leaves turned brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and finally deep red as autumn unfolded. Those little moments never really got old.
We've also appreciated how convenient the location has been. Glen Lake, the Goffstown Rail Trail, Goffstown Parks & Recreation, and Goffstown High School are all nearby, making it easy to enjoy the outdoors and everything the community has to offer.
This neighborhood has its own story. Before becoming one of Goffstown's original post-war neighborhoods, the property was home to a quarter-mile harness racing track—a history that's still reflected today in the neighborhood's distinctive oval layout. Today, it's one of the area's most established communities, known for mature trees, well-maintained homes, and a sense of permanence that's difficult to replicate overnight.
Perhaps the best compliment we can give this house is that it simply worked. Whenever something needed attention, we chose to replace it rather than postpone it. That standard guided us daily, allowing us to spend our weekends enjoying the home instead of working on it.
We hope the next owners enjoy it as much as we have. More than anything, we hope they appreciate inheriting the finished product instead of the project list.

What the owner loves about this home
What we've appreciated most is how convenient this location has been. Glen Lake, the Rail Trail, Parks & Recreation, and Goffstown High School are all nearby, making it easy to enjoy the neighborhood and outdoor recreation as part of everyday life.
Whenever something needed attention, we chose to replace it rather than patch it. That decision gave us confidence that we were investing in the home for the long term instead of creating projects for the future.
The detached garage/workshop has been a great space for hobbies and storage, while the mature landscaping provides privacy and color throughout the seasons. This has been an easy home to enjoy and a wonderful place to spend the past several years.
