Summer rental, country living with an easy drive to town! Our farmhouse-style, eclectically decorated home is 1 mile down a quiet dirt road, with two porches on a 5-acre property nestled in 600 rural acres, including pastures, woods, streams, and ponds. You can reach Auburn or Opelika in 20 minutes, no highways. The house is fully furnished. All you need is clothes and food! IMPORTANT NOTE: this home comes with an outdoor, super low-maintenance"farmdog" named Rudy. He loves kids and dogs. Read more below. Available now through mid-Aug 2026 with a tentative possibility of extending through October. Ideal renters: Visiting faculty/scholars, new TT faculty wanting to store their belongings and shop for a home while living here instead of moving twice, or other non-academic adults with references. Doctoral students may be considered. Credit and background checks required. House will be deep-cleaned before move-in and the same will be expected upon move-out. Rent does not include utilities. Those are set at a flat of $300/mo, includes wifi, electricity, water, trash, and lawn care. Reach out for video tours. Outdoor country dog Rudy is VERY easy. Just needs a scoop of food 2x a day & some love. You can hire our friends to feed him if you leave town. He'll bark when unknown cars approach the house. He's our (harmless) security system. Rudy LOVES other dogs and kids. He's very chill. We keep a bed for him in the basement for dangerous weather (bad storms, freezing temps). Otherwise he sleeps on the porches. Inside plants watered about 2x week. Tenants can maintain low-maintenance "gardens" around the house or hire out (arranged by owners) but they must be kept in check one way or the other. Grass: We have a large riding mower, utilities include 2x month mowing of large area during high-growth times. You're welcome to do the area around the house and swingset more often.
