The room was large enough to host a quiet evening with a string quartet, but it wasn't a sitting room. It was a lying down room, and the star of the show was an elevated bed on wheels, with two spotlights balefully shining down on it, one larger than the other. Carts on wheels lined the wall everywhere. One contained what seemed to be sophisticated instruments of torture in precision shining German steel. Another had a dozen rubber gloves neatly packed in polythene awaiting instructions. Others contained electronic boxes with dials, knobs, and buttons, enough to make your average ham radio enthusiast wet his pants in anticipation. One of the wall had two sparse clocks marking time in New York and London - the kind that would have felt at home at a World War II operations center. It was flooded with quiet, menacing green light, the kind that expected trouble. The mosaic on the floor had a big menacing circle eight feet wide designed into it, lest you forgot where the action was. No damage of property
