    Real Country ? Real Story I grew up a country girl, where home meant a fun, safe place to be. From an early age, with Dad?s huntin? dog as my sidekick, I was free to explore and try to make friends with all the critters ol? Smoky would find, an adventure waitin? round every bend. As I grew, Dad made a high jump stand and pit for my landing, and early on he put up a basketball goal. Living on a blacktop road, I loved bicycling too (when I wasn?t walking or riding a horse.) Mom always had a couple of garden plots going, so yes, we never lacked in plenty of work to keep us busy. I didn?t mind wearing a swimsuit while riding the lawnmower around the yard and outbuildings, coming out of the deal with a nice suntan. And big Family Get-Togethers would rock that old house with laughter and the music of guitars, harmonicas, a mandolin, accordion, piano and of course singing and dancing! But singing always filled the air with my sister and me around. Over the years, new things were added and even when I had my own children, I always loved ?going home.? (Didn?t we all!) The addition of the full basement was huge, some playing pool while others kept the ping pong tournament going, and a nice ? bath down there too! On the main floor, the kitchen was remodeled, baths on the main floor and upstairs were updated, yet the character of that lovable old house always remained true. New central air and furnace and a new hot water heater are things we just recently added as well as a thorough refurbishing. Outdoors, the Morton building stands firm ? it used to house the 18-foot boat and mini-home, plus served as a shop for welding and repairs. The convenient blacktop location, about 30 minutes to either Newton or Hutchinson, 20 minutes to McPherson, is just one more advantage this home secures.
