I've put $50k into the home in the last 2 years. Realistically, it needs at *minimum* another $50k (and that's if you do a lot of the work yourself) before it's up to any sort of standards. It was built in 1917, and has a lot of "oddities." Like the staircase is a hazard, and thouh it was sold to me as a 3 bedroom, it's not. There's a tiny downstairs bedroom, another room that has no closet or doors, and then the upstairs, that also has no closet or doors, and was built into a converted attic. The upstairs only allows walking in the center 3 feet of the room, because of the roof pitch. Due to Roseville building codes, if anything is changed on certain areas of the house, then that portion needs to be brought up to current code standards. To really do it right, the roof/upstairs should be raised. The stairs HAVE to be redone. The siding needs replacing, down to the studs. The rooms that were built in 1917 are 6" higher than the rooms that were built in 1925. Absolutely NO idea why they would have done that, there's no reason for it. Under the cheap carpeting (put in 12 years ago), there are the original wood floors. They're beautiful, but have lead-based paint (looks like over the years people just painted around the furniture that was there?). You'd need to hire a professional to remove this, or cover it up with dark-colored floor paint (which was my plan). Neighborhood Description Nice, quiet and safe. A few families have started moving in over the last couple of years, prior to that it was mostly empty nesters. The neighbors are nice and friendly, and always look out for each other and help out. I've never had a problem with any of the neighbors here, they're all very nice.
