    What's special

    This home sits in the middle of two lots on the corner of Carpenter and Bradford streets. Bradford Street is also State Highway #18. There are thirty trees and a like number of shrubs in the yard. These trees are located on the perimeter of the lots, with several in the yard itself. The trees are a variety of hardwoods, pine and spruce. The house faces Carpenter Street. There is a good buffer of trees between the highway and the north side of the house. The lawn is contoured so that rain water flows away from the house. Since moving here in 2000, we have made forty-one major and minor improvements to the house, yard and deck. We estimate that we have invested between forty-five and fifty thousand dollars in these improvements. Major improvements include the following: a new roof, rebuilt the very large deck, added insulation to the attic to R49+, replaced the basement carpet with hard surfaced flooring, added a vinyl fence in the south-side yard, new furnace and air conditioner, replaced the water heater with a very high efficient heat-pump style one, replaced the garage floor by digging out the dirt and replacing it with four feet of two inch crushed rock, and adding a floor drain. Minor improvements include a new 200 amp fuse box, a back-up gas powered 7500 watt electric generator, connected directly to the fuse box; a shut-off valve on the exit sewer line from the house, preventing a sewer back-up from the main sewer line. The central feature of the home's interior is a double fireplace, one side facing the kitchen and dining area and the other side facing the livingroom. It burns wood and has an ash receptacle located beneath it. The kitchen has an island in the middle for convenience in cooking and eating. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen area. A central hallway connects the three bedrooms and the bathroom. The bath/stool area is separated from the sink area by a sliding door. A sliding door also connects the master bedroom to the bathroom. There are two sinks, side by side. The bathtub is a combination tub/shower. The basement is the same size as the main floor. It has a support wall running the full length of the room, down the center. This wall creates a rec. room of fifteen feet by forty feet. It has a finished ceiling. There is a full kitchen with a finished ceiling, and large folding-door storage areas. The furnace room is located between the kitchen and the full bathroom. The bathroom with a shower also contains the washer and natural gas clothes dryer. Off the bathroom is a large room which can be used as a bedroom or storage room. The water softener is located in an area behind the bathroom.
