Ed Ball founder of St. Joe Paper built this home for Isabelle Ball and her husband Nehemiah Addison Baker, president of the Orlando branch of the Florida National Bank. The design of the house is attributed to revered Winter Park Architect James Gamble Rogers II showing such signature elements as the breezeway, Dutch doors, mosaic tile and wooden spindles over the windows. Several doors and the fireplace mantle came from Ed Ball’s sister Jessie Ball duPont’s family home via the estate of Alfred I. D duPont. About 1949 Ron and Frances Rood, owners of Southern Music, bought the house; they added the rear porch in 1950. Mrs. Rood, known as "grandmother to College Park" remained here until 2002. The current owners restored many of its original features, including cabinets, pedestal sinks and deco medicine chests.
