UPDATES: cabinets to solid oak, new beige blended ceramic tile was installed in the kitchen and hallway, the entire unit was painted in fresh neutral shades, the Berber carpet has been cleaned, new Hunter ceiling fans were installed in the dining room, kitchen, and guest bedroom, new Amana self-cleaning, gas oven range was installed last fall, a new hot water tank was purchased 2 years ago, a brand new top of the line Trane AC unit was installed last summer (ours is the largest AC unit seen on the side of the building), the furnace was updated and fine tuned as well; new motor too. Also, the balcony carpeting was replaced recently, and the insulation in the attic was boosted to R-38 for superior insulation. This home has had an energy saving tune up! We also added a Santa Cecilia granite slab counter, replacing the smaller wooden piece on the short wall that separates the kitchen from the living room. Neighborhood Description This is a great neighborhood; ours is a private street with no thru traffic. Lots of people enjoy strolling the block, walking for leisure, walking their dogs. Everyone is very friendly. Only a mile away you'll find the Moraine Valley Community College, which offers a great walking or jogging track, new tennis courts, and basketball courts - all free to the community and very soon - a new state of the art athletic complex with an indoor track and pool. There are two churches, a park, and the high school all within walking distance. The school district is also Palos 118, a very good school district. A short drive will take you to nearby forest preserves with local favorites such as the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center and Swallow Cliff for those who enjoy forest walks or picnics. This particular location is also very conveniently located; it is a short and quick drive to La Grange, which takes you to Orland Park in 15 minutes or less and to I-55 in 10 minutes. We visit the city quite often and are downtown in 25 minutes during off-peak traffic. During high peak traffic periods, the Metra Palos Heights Station is only 5 minutes away with ample, convenient parking and a smooth ride to Union Station for anyone who commutes to the city for work. We still use it daily.
