I'm an instructor at VT who, due to a recent change in living situation, is looking for someone to take over a 12-month lease at my former apartment that I signed a few months ago but no longer require. It's a quite cozy one-bedroom, 500 sq-ft apartment. Apartment unit is on the second floor of the building. Thankfully, the entrance is very close to the door inside from one of the outside stairwells (I found moving in to be very easy). The building itself is only three years old. The building and overall complex is pretty quiet, as it's tucked away off a residential street a few blocks down off Main Street, and seems to be a mix of both students and other professionals. It's very close to campus; definitely walking distance (I have walked to work every day while living there), and also just a quick walk into downtown Blacksburg. Ample parking at the complex (with an included parking hang-tag), and guest parking is at reserved spots in the parking lot of the YMCA Thrift Store located right next to the building. Cats are allowed, though I believe there is an extra monthly fee for that (you'd need to talk to management about it, as I never took advantage of it so I'm not entirely sure). Rent is $1090 a month, which is a renewal rate cheaper than the starting rent at this complex, and includes ALL utilities = water, electric, trash, internet, and cable (Direct TV; cable box and remote included). Refrigerator, oven/stove, and dishwasher included. There are also laundry rooms with four washer and dryer units on EACH floor of the building, so that is extremely convenient. I've included some pictures (the furniture in the pics will be out of apartment by June 1st). This won't be a sublease, but rather a full lease takeover - if you're interested, you'll apply through the rental company, and if approved the lease will be entirely transferred to you. That lease starts on June 1st (and is a 12 month lease that goes through May 22, 2023), and honestly I'm hoping I can find someone to take it over as soon as I can, preferably even as soon as June 1st. At the same time, I know that might not be entirely feasible for everyone/anyone interested. I also understand it's difficult because I won't necessarily be around at all points during the summer to show people the apartment first (though I imagine the rental company - Pointe West Management - would probably be willing to set up a time for someone to come take a look at it first...I'm sure you could call them and ask; I always found them to be helpful). So I'm keeping open to all possibilities, but I just want to be honest that if I am contacted by someone who can take it over sooner than others, I might need to lean that way. Hopefully everyone understands.
