Do you like living away from hustle and bustle of the city, but still will be within 10 minutes proximity to the stores, Berkeley's restaurants and Bart? We have a beautiful in-law unit for rent in a French chateau style house in Montclair (the western slope of the Oakland Hills), very close to Berkeley. Wake up every morning with an invigorating smell of eucalyptus forest and beautiful views! The studio is very quiet, all you will hear is birds chirping rather than the sounds of traffic in a large city. The house is located in the posh and very safe neighborhood. This studio has its own separate entrance. It is very spacious and could be partitioned into a bedroom and an office. It will be ideal for someone who doesn't cook at home much and prefers to eat out because the unit doesn't have a formal kitchen. However, we could provide a large or a small fridge, an air fryer, a hotpot, a microwave, and an electric kettle/coffee machine at no additional cost . The base rental cost is $1250. The studio can be available in unfurnished or furnished options. The furnished option (+$100 per month) will include a twin bed with a mattress, a desk, a computer chair, and a bookcase. Utilities (1GB internet, electricity, gas, water, garbage) will be added to the rent (+$180 per month). This studio will be ideal for a student (17 minutes by car to the University of Berkeley) or a working professional who loves the outdoors and beautiful views. The house is located within a one-minute walk to the trailheads in Sibley National Preserve, so you could spend a lot of time hiking and biking. The neighborhood is very safe and there is plenty of parking right on the property. We prefer at least a one-year contract, though shorter stays could be available for an additional monthly fee. A beautiful studio like that will not be on the market for a long time. I intentionally priced it out around 10-15% cheaper than its market value so I could choose an ideal tenant. Renter pays $180 for all the utilities in addition to the base rent (assuming that the usage is reasonable and doesn't increase the owner's bill much when compared to previous tenants). Utilities include: water, electricity, gas, garbage and high-speed internet.
