George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr.. (February 14, 1859-November 22, 1896) was an American engineer most famous for creating the original Ferris Wheel for the 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Exposition. His Former House on the Arch Street in the Central Northside was added to the City of Pittsburgh Designated Historic Structures List in June 2001.
