OK, I'm going to start out with a plea from a guy who's been renting this cool old house out for 30 years and treating his tenants well all that time (and yes, I'd be happy to give you years of references from current and previous tenants). Here's my pitch: You know all those places you're looking at that are offering you a free month or 2 at the beginning of you lease? Sounds great, right? Yeah, until something happens and you need to pay the rent a week late but they charge you the fee anyway, or when they amaze you by doing the biggest legally allowable rent increase the day your lease expires. They've got this game all figured out and will be damn sure to get that free month back out of you, with interest, over time. Now if you don't mind moving every year you can probably stay ahead of that game for a few years. Or, you can rent from a small local guy like me who shows up with his tools when something goes wrong and fixes it. The day you call me. Who tries to never raise rents on a sitting tenant because that shit's just unfair. (Oh there are times when the taxes and utilites go up that I have to share the pain around, typically that ends up being $25-$50 a month every few years.) If you don't shop at Wal-Mart because it kills local business but you rent from those jackels then, sorry, but you shop at Wal-Mart... And now, on to our regularly scheduled sales pitch! Directly in the centre of Capitol Hill, the "Pine St Whorehouse" has a rare opening! Built in around 1910, the last remaining old Seattle house on Pine St (at least, on the downtown side) it has a rich and varied history from pre-prohibition whorehouse to former headquarters of the Lesbian Resource Center. In between it's hosted the law offices of former mayor Greg Nichols' dad, was a whorehouse again in the 60's, then my place and, for the last 25+ years has seen a rotating cast of students, food and beverage industry workers, and just generally great people. On the top floor directly on Pine St, it's kind of a flexible space with up to 4 bedrooms depending on how you configure. Or you can have one large bedroom suite, a smaller bedroom, and open the double doors to extend the living room. Got a good sized kitchen with a new dishwasher and wood patterned floors, a big bathroom with a tub, a small back deck with a storage room off of it. Pretty high ceilings, I think about 9'6" if I recall correctly. It's on the top floor just off of Pine St across from The Cuff. Now just so your expectations are in line with what I've got here. This is an old place with bumpy plaster walls and lots of character. It's not Sheetrock Towers with a roof deck and a gas grill that no one every uses except maybe once for that party for your friends from the office were everyone was vaguely uncomfortable and made excuses to leave early. It's just a cool old house with a lot of history and soul. So it's not for everyone. Be honest with yourself about who you are and how you like to live. Some folks just need lots of crisp angles and granite countertops to feel OK. The best thing is text me and I'll phone you back and we can talk about it. You probably have questions and we can get a lot of that process of elimination stuff out of the way on the phone. Then, if you still want to see it, we can set something up. I also have a video tour I can send along if you're interested. I pay water/sewer/garbage. Electric, internet, and cable are up to you. Some folks in the past have made deals to share with the folks downstairs
