Someone suggested an owner might give a little insight into their own property. Seems like a reasonable idea. . We really made the right move when we decided to try this environmental community a little over 18 years ago. Where to start? I’ll run thru a few features as they occur to me. . Open space (lots of it), fires (for the pyro in us), organic farm, hugely successful charter school, horse stable, 10 miles of trails that hook up to regional trails, fire pits, Byron Colby barn (for concerts, weddings, pot lucks), fitness center, friendly neighbors. Almost forgot the beach: grilling there with friends or just hanging out in the shade on a lazy summer evening. . How about our place in particular? Very well-maintained inside and out (thanks to my wife’s attention to every detail), sharp landscaping (due to her husband’s hard work and planning) including a pond with frogs and lily pads, seven mature junipers, two willows, three birches and assorted others, all looking out on a sea of big blue stem from our deck. At last, there’s the changing panorama of the seasons from our many windows. . Bottom line is that we knew the day we downsized would eventually come, but we’ll always fondly remember this home on the prairie.
