Neighborhood Description Terrific neighborhood, full of gorgeous, eclectic homes (some original little beach cottages, some modern architectural masterpieces) on quiet streets. The Via Grimaldi/Via Latina loop is informally known as San Diego's Architecture Hill and is well worth a walk just to check out the houses. Torrey Pines State Reserve's beach is a quick walk for surfers, swimmers, and hikers. Lots of restaurants on Carmel Valley Road, a longer walk into Del Mar village for the farmer's market, another dozen fabulous restaurants. Freeway access is perfect--easy but very little noise (unique in North County to have great access and no noise). Award-winning school districts, currently (2018) the middle school in Solana Beach has an inexpensive bus with a stop one mile away. The only downside to this neighborhood is that dogs are not allowed on the state park walks, beach or otherwise, but the neighborhood is full of dog owners and safe to walk any time of the day or night.
