Ville de Côté Gelée sits on 34 acres and will include 60 homes, a business park, multiple lakes and a walking trail. The community's goal is to be a place where residents can live, work and play. The neighborhood gets its name from the original Acadian settlers who, in 1784, experienced a severe winter and named the Broussard area Côté Gelée, meaning frozen embankment or frozen hill. The area retained that name for 100 years, until 1884 when it was renamed Broussard in honor of one its early pioneers, Valsin Broussard.
