    What's special

Germantown's only example of the Romanesque Revival style, this brick house features contrasting heavy stone trim arching over the front entry porch and around the windows as well as a decorative round turret with a slate-covered conical roof. This 3,593 sq. ft. house was built around 1890 as the home of an affluent family. The interior retains its original woodwork, including tall doors with transoms and several highly ornate Victorian fireplaces finished with a variety of decorative ceramic tiles. Particularly impressive is the dramatic two story entry hall featuring a small fireplace and handsome staircase. Of the eleven original fireplaces, several have been closed; however, three have been restored to operation using gas. After many years of being a rental property, recently housing a potter’s home and studio, the structure was in need of extensive renovation. Nicholas Holland, who lives nearby in Hope Gardens, purchased the residence earlier this year to house his company - CentreSource. Restoration began with completely repointing the exterior masonry. The roof structure was repaired and reroofed. All of the deteriorated windows were replaced. On the interior, the house received new wiring, plumbing (including new restrooms) and two HVAC units with timed thermostats. All of the plaster walls were repaired and new crown moulding was added throughout. The two story side porch, originally an open structure, has been enclosed to provide internal circulation and work space. The result is a well-executed adaptive reuse of an historic structure accomplished with minimal interior changes made to accomidate this high-tech business.

This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
