This classic federal style house was built by Grant Olson, a Sheaffer Pen executive, in 1939. The original blueprints were drawn up by a Chicago architect. No short cuts were made when they built this house. In addition to 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, it has a finished walkout basement, a walk up storage attic with a cedar closet, a screened in porch, and a deck. Open to the kitchen is a large breakfast area that was once a study and library. The dining room and living room are large and great for entertaining. The basement has a large family room with fireplace, double windows and a door to the back yard. The basement also has a laundry room, an utility room, a bathroom, and a two car garage. The outside wooden trim has just been painted, two new garage doors have been added and a brand new air conditioner was just installed. The county lists this house as having 2,740 square feet of livable space. We measured very carefully using USNI directions and came up with a larger number. This home is located on a corner double lot. We have decorated mostly with antiques, but when we bought this house the owners had contemporary and modern decor and it was lovely.
