We completely gutted the original house down to the studs. Permits were pulled and final inspections done on all work. We even replaced most of the subfloor. We are on a fixed foundation with a nice crawl space underneath. There is 1" closed cell insulation on the exterior of the foundation. In the house we had spray foam insulation installed through the entire house, 4" in the walls and up to 8" in the ceiling. We have an excellent domestic well that runs 15 gallons/minute. Our separate out building with the solar installed is 500 sq ft and listed as a garage here. It is two rooms: one room with the solar equipment, well housing and pressure tank, and pantry with propane heat. The other room has a wood stove and storage. The solar array is 6.5kW with an 8.8 kW inverter tied to a 16kW generator that automatically works when the batteries get low. Currently the generator only runs for the periodic exercise mode. We are on a septic with access to the system and clean outs. The home has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The tv room can be converted into a third bedroom with a wall and a door installed. The living room has great views of the valley. There is pine tongue and groove flooring in the kitchen, dining room, wood-stove room, and living room. There is carpet in the tv room, hallway, and bedrooms. We have tile in the bathrooms, entryways, and hearth. The master bathroom has a 6' bathtub and separate shower. We heat with wood, but we also have a hot water baseboard boiler that we test every year. The water heater for the house is on demand. We have a nice deck around three sides of the house. It could easily be extended all the way around the house. Access to the crawlspace is in the master closet. There's a 500 gallon propane tank that we fill about once a year.
