Worcester's oldest house, The Captain Benjamin Flagg House is now available. According to federal & state records, the construction date is "c.1717". The house originally was part of a 150 acre grant to the Flagg family by the King of England. Restored & substantially rehabilitated in 1999 utilizing a team of historic preservation tradesmen, the house represents only a handful of 18th century structures left in the city. It is presumably the city's oldest house. Of solid post & beam construction, the house sits on a wooded corner lot. Vacant 1st fl (owner occ potential) apt retains significant original features including wide old-growth heart pine flooring & exposed hand-hewn beam ceilings (likely by Flagg's own hand as he was an accomplished carpenter).
