    What's special

With a Georgian-style exterior, and a more Victorian-esque interior, this type of house is generally called a "Denver Square." It's exterior is made with 3 spaced courses of red brick, which creates well-insulated walls from the basement up to the third story. All windows have painted wood trim, and most are double-hung with an accessory storm-window/screen combination. The attic is also insulated, as is the roofline. The interior foyer features hand-crafted panelling and a grand staircase leading up to the second-floor landing, where 5 rooms are directly accessible. The first floor is adorned with original built-in bookcases and other storage shelving and drawers that lie behind glass doors, or are just open. The dining room especially is lush with wood details and a built-in sideboard with columns and mirrors, and the living room features a carved mantlepiece supported by small columns with an enclosed gas-fed insert inside the firepit. Just inside the front inside door is a small diagonally fitted room replete with a pine floor with a marquetry designed perimeter, while the main foyer (and most other rooms) is finished with original tongue-and-groove red oak flooring. Another staircase leads up into the third floor, which is presently (and traditionally, as it turns out) used as a game-room, with knotty-pine panelling, access doors to the spaces above the soffit outside, and a pool table in the center. Four dormers face out from this floor, one on each side, and provide extra square footage and window light. One features a small-ish bedroom with closet, shelving, and a 3/4 bath. The second-floor landing is open to the north staircase, and offers no-hallway access to the five rooms adjacent to it; presently, two are bedrooms, two are offices, and one is a restored full bathroom. A linen closet also opens onto this floor. The fully remodelled kitchen features all new appliances, a central island, walls of fine maple cabinetry, and a pantry room with shelving and utility closets. Just off the kitchen are: one door leading outside to the backyard deck, alley-side garage, and fish pond with aspen grove and streambed leading into the pond; another door leads to the finished basement, with laundry room, tool room, storage rooms, the boiler room, and a full bathroom; a third doorway leads to the back staircase up to the second floor. All in all, this is a warm, spacious, and comfortable home with all the features one needs for modern living in an antique house. 26 solar panels in collective array belong to this home, and represent a major investment in a more renewable energy future; Xcel energy pays us back for any extra electricity put up on the grid, and the panels supply a very large portion, if not all, of the monthly electrical needs.
