    What's special

This is an established, one-of-a-kind, turn-key, restaurant business. The original Fin Inn Restaurant opened May 8, 1981. It's founder, after almost forty years working as a commercial fisherman, gathered local limestone and creek rock from local waterways and built the Fin Inn. Every stone in the building was laid by him. Today, the second generation continue their father's legacy - offering seating for 125 guests, four 2,000 gallon tanks and table-side viewing at 21 tables and a wonderful menu. The aquariums have many types of fish native to the Mississippi River. They also feature different species of turtles, including Loggerheads, the largest weighing well over 100 pounds and over 100 years old. There is also a nice gift shop located just off the dining area. In past years, they also operated a bar on the lower level, which could potentially produce additional income. This is in the historic town of Grafton, IL, located at the confluence of the Mighty Mississippi and Illinois Rivers, just one hour north of St. Louis Mo, on the Great River Road. Officially founded in 1836, Grafton's prime location on the river necessitated a boat construction industry. Resting under the Mississippi River bluffs, quarrying was also a lucrative industry. Tons of magnesian limestone was found here, making the quarries one of the richest and most extensive of the town's resources. Grafton stone was used locally to construct buildings and homes, and it was also transported to St. Louis for use in structures, such as the Old Cathedral and the Eads Bridge. Grafton has seven places and sites that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Grafton Historic District, Grafton Bank, the John and Amelia McClintock House, Ruebel Hotel, the Slaten-LaMarsh House, and the Paris Mason Building were all added in 1994. The Charles Brainerd House was added to the Register in 1998.The Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway bends and curves with river, winding its way to the confluence of the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers in Grafton, Illinois. Experience the hometown flavor and down-to-earth qualities of this real river town as you meander along the Main Street browsing the shops for unique gifts and antiques. Pull up a seat on the decks or patios at one of the many restaurants to indulge in the local flavors. Or, spend the afternoon with a glass of wine in hand at one of the many local wineries offering a relaxing river view. Bed & breakfast inns and guest houses scattered throughout the town offer views of the river and a home away from home. With barges just a stone's throw away on the Mississippi River, you are guaranteed to gain a new perspective of what living on the river really means. Water recreation abounds from racing down the waterslides at Raging Rivers Waterpark to paddling your way down the Illinois River in a canoe. First class boating facilities can be found at the Grafton Harbor, a full service marina offering both transient slips for short stays and long-term docking. The new zipline is calling those looking for a thrill, or enjoy a soft adventure with biking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding at more at Illinois' largest state park - Pere Marquette State Park.Pere Marquette State Park is just ten minutes on up the road. Pere Marquette State Park is a nature lover's paradise. In addition to enjoying the spectacular views of the Illinois River and its backwaters from several points atop the bluffs, visitors can take advantage of a variety of year-round recreational opportunities, including horseback riding, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting and boating. Fall color drives are popular along the wooded ravines and riverside roadways at and near Pere Marquette. In January and February, the park is a hot-spot for bald eagle watching.
