When I first saw the home, nearly 20 years ago, I could not believe the view. Then there is the view. Did I mention the view? The bedroom, living room, and front deck, give you a view from the financial district, to the bay bridge, to Oakland and Alameda. While that blew me away, there were some cosmetic changes that I wanted to make. All interior doors have been changed to six panel solid pine and painted high-gloss white. The ceilings have all been scraped to remove the 1980s popcorn. There is crown molding, baseboards, and intricate molding around each door and window. Both bathrooms and the kitchen utilize solid granite/marble tile. In 2018, I undertook a $150,000 renovation. As most of the cost of a renovation is in labor, not materials, our use the best materials I could find. I created a master suite on the third floor in the large bedroom. I removed the tub, and put it in A walk in shower with a frameless glass enclosure and large batch. All of the hardware is European and absolutely top of the line. The tiles are all natural slate in a variety of colors, with the floors all being jet black. The vanity is custom-made, utilizing A custom concrete ramp sink which slopes down as you move toward the thousand dollar restoration hardware faucet. There is no drain hole, just an invisible slip through which all the water drains out. The countertop is made out of a center cut the slab of an ash tree stand a beautiful golden brown. Below that are two drawers, and to be in this which flip out diagonally and could be used for trash, dirty clothes, whatever you like. There are two entrances to the bathroom, one from the hallway, and one from the master bedroom. Both of them utilize electric sliding barn doors that open and close automatically. The master bedroom has a blue/gray silver theme of several different colors and continues the crown molding and baseboards seen throughout. There is a closet at one end of the bed with an electric roller shade at the top that rolls fully down at the touch of a button to close it off. On the left side is a 55 inch television, and on the right side is ample clothing storage. All of the floors throughout our solid acacia wood which is just gorgeous Google an image of it if you have never seen it before. All of the appliances including washer and dryer were replaced. There is a stacked washer dryer unit in the bathroom, and in the kitchen, Bosch appliances and total mosaic backsplash of mirror, beach glass, and stone covers each wall. The fireplace and it’s doors are brand new, and to date I have not been used. They are grandfathered in in San Francisco I am legal to use except on “spare the air“ days. All 28 stairs from the front door all the way to the top of the third floor are also solid acacia with matching bullnose hang, and stainless steel cable rails to modernize the look on both the second and third floors. Yes, I went a little nuts in improvements on this home, but when you walk in, you will not be able to tell that it was not just built, except for that it does not follow a cookie cutter format. It uses many gadgets seen primarily in Europe and with it’s outstanding views is really a one of a kind for San Francisco. In short, you won't need to do much Kamala and come to think of it, please don’t. Of course as the owner you’re welcome to change whatever you like, but know that every faucet, every tile, and even the Japanese toilets with the heated seats were considered carefully before purchase. It is a gem.
