First there was the medical genius Dr. Nathan S. Davis, who founded the American Medical Association (AMA) in 1847, following that up with the co-founding of Northwestern Medical School, to eventually become the first editor of Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). 100+ years later, motion picture mastermind John Hughes cemented his place as a local legend, shooting a bevy of classic film scenes in and around Evanston, led by Major League, Uncle Buck and the classic coming-of-age movie, Sixteen Candles. Pretty cool. So what other possible reasons would anyone want to stay in Evanston? Live here and you'll discover many. Say, for example, at the corner of Davis and Oak. Where above the street level flower shop, dry cleaner, yoga studio and womens boutique there are rental homes with large floor plans, new windows, hardwood floors.
