It's a great neighborhood to live in! People are very friendly and care about their property and community. There is a strong neighborhood association (PJNA – the Patty Jewett Neighborhood Association) which meets monthly to discuss relevant issues at the nearby Dogtooth Coffee Shop. The association sponsors an annual potluck "block party" in August a couple of blocks away on Royer St. The annual Pikes Peak Region Greek Festival is held just up the street about a half mile away. Colorado College , Bon Shopping Center, Penrose Hospital, the golf course, the Shooks Run bicycle path and Monument Valley Park are all located within a mile or less and downtown Colorado Springs is less than two miles away. Union Blvd., Fillmore St., Uintah St., located nearby, provide quick and easy access to the North, East, and West parts of town. My daily commute to work in the northeast part of town takes less than fifteen minutes. A recent article in the Gazette (September 21, 2006), proclaims " El Paso Street is a wonderful place to live and anyone would be lucky to own a home there." In the article, one of my neighbors down the street is quoted as saying: "This is a wonderful neighborhood…It's a real neighborhood where you get to know the people around you and watch out for them." He describes a place where people care about each other and their homes. The schools are great and folks take walks and talk to neighbors. It's a place where a mini remodeling boom is under way with hammers flying up and down the street. People are fixing up their 100-year-old homes, expanding them, updating their interiors. "This neighborhood has the feel of the North End," [he] said, referring to the historic residential district north of Colorado College. Having lived here more than 11 years, we couldn't agree more!
