    What's special

The City of Bellbrook was settled in 1816 and was named for one of its founders, Stephen Bell. The City first attained a population of over 5,000 in 1970 when Bellbrook annexed a large part of western Sugarcreek Township. This led to official city status in 1974. The current census numbers residents at approximately 7,000 today. Bellbrook is unique because it provides a full range of services without a local income tax, being one of about 4 of Ohio’s over 250 cities without an income tax. 41% of Bellbrook residents age 25 and older have a bachelor's or advanced college degree. The 2011 per capita income in Bellbrook was $62,794, compared with $44,389 nationally. The Ohio Dept of Education consistently rates schools excellent; the Sugarcreek Local School District is an award winning district which excels in academics and extra curricular activities. Bellbrook’s Fire Department provides some of the best small city fire and paramedic services in the state utilizing full-time, part-time and volunteer firefighter/paramedics with round-the-clock staffing. The Police Department helps keep Bellbrook’s crime rate at the lowest level in the area through a combination of comprehensive neighborhood patrol, neighborhood and business watch programs and a wide range of public education programs.
