    16917 Sturgis Circle is one of Cedar Key's premier waterfront homes. Built in 1993 and expanded in 1997, a complete ground-up restoration was completed in 2020. This home has one of Cedar Key's most spectacular Gulf and salt marsh views teeming with wildlife. The home is on stilts over a heated fresh water pool in a screened-in deck. Also at pool level is a half bath, as well as an outdoor hot & cold shower, laundry room and storage. The totally remodeled main floor has vaulted ceilings, travertine floors throughout, master suite with huge shower and walk-in closet, two guest bedrooms, guest bathroom, kitchen, dining room, family room and living room. The artisans of Roecker Cabinets traveled from Peoria Heights, Illinois to design, build and install the kitchen, bathroom, entertainment center and bar cabinets. The contemporary natural maple finish is carried throughout the house's window seats, window sills and trim. The bathroom cabinets are a modern wire-brushed black finish. The three original hot water tanks were replaced by a pair of on-demand water heaters. LP service was added to replace the electric range in the kitchen with gas, as well as provide on-demand hot water for the guest bathroom, pool level laundry, kitchen and poolside shower. Replacing the main floor hot water tank also provided space for a pantry. Two hot water tanks in the attic above the master bedroom were replaced by an electric on-demand water heater for the master bathroom. One of the home's two 2.5 ton air-conditioning units was replaced in 2019. A mini-split was added in 2019 to heat and cool the pool level laundry, half bath and storage room. A dedicated 50A / 240V circuit provides power for a was poolside hot tub. All of the home's lights have been converted to LED to reduce power consumption. That includes the ten ModernForms 52 in. smart ceiling fans that are integrated with the home's Nest smart thermostats to further reduce air conditioning and heating cost. The speed and direction of each fan responds to temperature to minimize heating and cooling cost. Learn more at modernforms.com. The pool room was updated with new doors, aluminum framing and no-see-um (20 x 20 squares per inch) screen. Ocala Pool Boys replaced the pool's antiquated sand filter system with a modern, efficient filter and pump, new valves, filter and heater. This installation was moved to an outdoor location to free 30 square feet in the pool laundry room and make the whole area quieter. California Closets worked with us to design custom master and guest bedroom closets. The closets are double-hung to maximize space for garments, and each closet has a stack of drawers for additional storage. In the Spring of 2022, Action Irrigation of Gainesville installed a new 30 ft. well and pump to supply a new irrigation system for the grounds. A Nelson professional sprinkler system was added with a central well-water filter to minimize maintenance required to keep the sprinkler heads clean and operating properly. In July, 2023, an AmericanHydroSystems injection system was added to further reduce maintenance and eliminate rust stains. In November, 2022, the boat house was professionally rewired, and then Florida Dock Builders refurbished the 5,000 lb. capacity boat lift. In January, 2023, A Golden Boat Lifts kayak launch was added along with a folding service platform for easy outboard motor access. The boathouse was plumbed at that time to make cleanup easier when you come in from the water.
