Brief history: Built in 1820 by retired Col. Elizur Patton. The house was enlarged in the 1860s and converted into apartments in the '50s. It was abandoned sometime in the '80s. It is the second oldest house in Transylvania County. Preservation NC acquired the property in 2008 to sell to anyone willing to restore the property. It sold but the owner's plans have changed and the house needs to be sold to someone who can completely restore it to it's former glory. Restoration work started and included total property cleanup. New windows and period correct doors. The house was painted around 5 years ago, but will need to be scraped and repainted. The house is listed on the local Historic registry and is protected. It can not be demolished. It sits on little over an acre of land in Pisgah Forest, NC. The asking price is $110,000. It will need a total restoration. I’m not completely certain on the build year, but it appears that the house started as a hall and parlor cabin and was enlarged over time.
