Spacious apartment (@1,200 square feet) with large turret room on second floor.
After opening a steel door (good security), you walk up stairs (inside stairs so no ice to slip on). The stairs are not handicap accessible (old building) . At the top of the stairs there is a hallway that doubles back to the left that leads to the 1st bedroom. Immediately on the left is the bathroom which is between the two bedrooms. This bathroom also comes with a washer and a dryer. (Note photo says dryer hook-up. There is in fact a washer and dryer installed so you don't have to lift it up the stairs.) Straight ahead and to the left is the main (larger) bedroom. Jog to the right is the great room including a turret with lots of window and much light. To the right there is a linen closet and then a small eat-in kitchen.
This well maintained apartment has an old fashioned tin ceiling in the great room and in the bathroom.
Off-street parking for two vehicles.
Close to I-91 (but you can't hear the traffic).
Ethan Allen is walking distance as is a North Country Federal Credit Union branch.
Requirements to move in:
A. Good references (work, friend, mom) and yes I call them.
B. $1,400 (first month's rent)
C. $1,400 (last month's rent)
D. $1,400 (security deposit)
Note the rent of $1,400 assumes you deposit the money in my North Country Federal Credit Union no later than the 1st of the month. After that the rent is $1,500 as my heart burn kicks in and my doctor says that that is bad for me. Stress is not good for heart.

The rent is actually $1,600 per month, but if you pay no later than the 1st of the month to North Country Federal Credit Union (300 yards away), then there is a $100 discount. This makes my doctor happy as I don't have to take blood pressure medicine and I sleep better at night.
Yes I will call your references (work, friend, and mother).
And just three no's.
No pets - not even cute kittens, small goldfish, dogs that never scratch the hardwood floors, no hamsters, nor pet snakes. This is non-negotiable, so don't even ask.
No marijuana (Mary Jane, weed, cannabis or whatever else you want to call it), heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, or other illicit drugs. Just because cannabis is legal in Vermont, does not mean it is legal anywhere at 17 North Avenue. Further, conviction of drug use off the property is grounds for ending the lease. Recently I found out that one tenant was using drugs and I terminated their lease.
No tobacco smoking in the apartment. Outside is okay.
Finally, CALL ME (DO NOT TEXT) as I cannot receive texts during the day. Let us talk first so you don't waste your time if this is not a good fit. For example, in the past some have asked if they can rent even though they have a cute dog. (The answer was no.) Or others were handicapped (but this is an old Vermont building on the 2nd floor). So please call me so we can talk. You can call between 6 AM and 9 PM.
