For rent is my own beloved Lafayette Square apartment. This place is special, and I would have stayed forever but our family outgrew the space. It is located in one of the best spots in the entire city, walking distance to many great bars and restaurants, Soulard Market, and just across from the most beautiful park. It is on the second floor of a classic St. Louis turn-of-the-century brick building, which stays relatively quiet other than a bit of highway noise. Street parking is always available, including in the circle off of the main/busy street. This unit has a nice master bedroom, and a second bedroom/office/sunroom with a large closet and a gorgeous view. The kitchen includes brand new appliances, and opens up onto a deck that's big enough for cozy seating or a table. The bathroom was recently renovated and includes a tub/shower and large vanity. There's a spacious dining room or sitting room in the center of the unit, and if you're lucky, you'll have entertainment all spring watching the birds nest, lay eggs, hatch, feed, and fly off from the dining room window. Full disclosure, it's an old building with it's share of quirks and annoyances. I'll do my best to outline them so you can decide whether they're deal breakers before taking a look: There's no central air (3 window units provided), and the temperature can be finicky. The boiler system is new and works great for heat in the winter, but it's not easy to keep at a specific temperature. The windows and doors are old and a few don't work perfectly. There's no on-site laundry, the floors are creaky, the cabinets are old, and the closets are small. All of that said, I loved this apartment so very much, and I couldn't have wished for a better place to survive a pandemic. Perfect location, tons of character, amazing neighbors, easy interstate access, and plenty of community events and attractions. Such a great place to live! All utilities are included, with the exception of internet/cable. No smoking. Street parking. Pet fees apply.
