A thoroughly original blend of architectural styles, this 1925 Spanish was reinterpreted by designer Fritz Haeg in 2004. Homeowner, David Bernardi admired R.M. Schindler's Falk Apartments across the street, and enlisted Haeg to create a wholly original work by combining L.A.'s Spanish history with modernism. A close collaboration developed between Bernardi and Haeg who describes the project as a "cubic wrapper with cut corners." The white stucco facade containing mica dust sparkles when viewed from different angles. The living and dining rooms contain custom built-ins and fabrics, including a table carved from glued laminated wood, custom media room with surround sound, six-foot long sink in the master bath with spa size shower and tub, Philipe Starck, Hansgrohe and Duravit fixtures throughout, and separate gym/guest area. The black pebble-lined pool is perfectly situated at the edge of the back terrace with views of the Hollywood sign, Griffith Park Observatory and the hills beyond.
