In 1953 the contractor received a COA for a back house 12’ x 20’ (240 sq ft) In 1983 the back house was greatly enlarged with approx 660 more sq ft. to approx 900 sq ft, built as an office and recreation room with a half bath and kitchenette. A permit for this addition and an addition to the carport of 240 sq ft was had drawings approved and stamped by the city building department. The final inspection was made and approved by a Los Angeles building inspector. Gen Contractor, Widdes Construction Inc. designed and completed the building. It is unknown why we cannot locate the Certificate of occupancy. Leonard Widdes became ill and apparently passed away without finalizing the approved COA by the Building Department. We used the building as a home office for 5 employees. City inspector came to see the office after the decor was finished and told us how nice the finished design looked. Special designs include 3 stained glass windows, 4 rooms plus closets and extensive built in cabinetry as well as partitions that can be removed in largest room. Extended kitchen and shower can easily be added to make this a second home. It has its own electrical panel, built in and decorative lighting and other features. Property has extensive professional landscaping, creative wood decks that wind around the trees and a bridge from the main house to the stairs up to the second house. Parking for 2 cars in a carport with room for 2 more cars in the driveway. Behind the garage is the previously mentioned 12’ x 20’, 240 sq ft room for a shop or recreation room, with window air and heater.
