We bought our Late Victorian house in 1998. It has the charm of an Old House with its hardwood floors and great floorplan. Neighborhood Description Apache Shores is a subdivision in Travis County. It lies on the east side of Ranch Road 620. It is a quirky blend of mobile homes and million dollar residences nestled among scenic rolling hills and along the shores of Lake Austin. The neighborhood is similar to what Lake Austin Estates was about ten years ago. It is transitioning from mostly lake getaway homes to newer and upscale permanent residences. Near Lake Austin there are homes in the near one million dollar range, while farther back, in the older section, there are mobile homes. Homeowners dues are very reasonable, only about $35 per lot per year. Many owners are active in volunteering to develop recreational areas for the community and in trash cleanup. A boat dock, with access to a prime part of Lake Austin, along with a lakeside park, nature trail, and community area are free for Apache Shores residents. Apache Shores Subdivision is one of the most natural subdivisions in the area, with good tree cover for wildlife. A lack of city street lights allows for star gazing. Many undeveloped lots remain, though they may require special engineering for the slope of the land. For more on Apache Shores and the Homeowners Association see their website below.
