This home was originally a schoolhouse and was moved to this location around 1960. It was remodeled several times, the most recent structural remodel was in 2006. We purchased the home when the very extensive remodeling effort was terminated when it was about 75% complete. We completed the remodeling as per the original plan that included new thermapane windows, new wiring, light fixtures and bathroom fixtures, ceiling fans and cabinets, and stained-glass accents throughout. An upstairs sink water line burst in 2015 flooding the upstairs and part of the downstairs floors and walls. Walls and floors were taken down to the studs and joists and upgraded to hardwood (oak) and tile flooring. A plastic tub and a shower/tub were replaced with tiled showers and new high-end fixtures. The upstairs (about 1000 square feet) was made into a standalone apartment with a kitchen and a separate entrance off the north upstairs deck. The house has four large decks, 2 off the upstairs apartment, which overlook the UA farms. The north upstairs deck was recently (2018) enclosed and is now a screened in porch. The apartment can be connected to the downstairs via an inside stairway, too. The house has 3 enclosed sheds and a covered only shed, plus a concrete in-ground storm shelter. The house is about a mile from the University of Arkansas and a quick mile from I49. In 2020-2021, a branch of the Arkansas Greenway paved trail system will connect to Janice Avenue.
