The Lago Vista neighborhood is part of the McAleer Creek watershed that connects Lakes Ballinger and Washington. McAleer Creek and its tributaries provide a slice of nature and reprieve from typical Seattle metro area living. The neighborhood is partially wooded and cut by numerous hills and winding streets. Several nesting birds and waterfowl frequent the area, including a mallard pair who we affectionately named Mac and Jackie. Our section of the stream opens up to a pond that supports a diverse community of aquatic plants, fish and crawdads. The back yard also includes numerous mature trees including Douglas fir, cedar, hemlock, pine, maple and alder. Mature English laurels provide privacy in both the front and back yards, and a beautiful cherry tree is the centerpiece of the front yard. Scattered along the wooden fence in front are rhododendrons, heather, azalea and hydrangea. The neighborhood has easy access to I-5 and is minutes away from grocery, pharmacy, restaurants, a movie theater, Costco and Home Depot. During summer months, a farmer’s market is located within biking distance.
