It is a very big and airy basement apartment AT STREET LEVEL, not underground, situated in a quiet neighborhood area close to Howard University (10 minute walk to school/green line subway). The apartment includes stainless steel appliances, spacious cabinets, windows, large closets, 1 bathroom, kitchen, microwave, washer/dryer (in common utility room), living room, heating and cooling from mini split units as well as heating baseboards, two separate front and back entrances separate from the main townhouse upstairs. Separately metered electric - tenant pays their own bill. Tenants are responsible for their own electric service, landlord pays water. Apartment is centrally located close to downtown. It sits literally on two bus lines (on the corner of North Capitol and T Street and across the street) and is in 15 minutes walking distance to the New York Avenue (red line) Metro (NOMA), Rhode Island Avenue Metro (red line) , and a 10 minute walk to the Howard/Shaw Metro (green line) subway lines. There are various restaurants and bars within a block from the unit - Rustik bar/restaurant, The Pub and the People bar/restaurant, Boundary Stone bar, Red Hen Italian restaurant, Aroi Thai, Bacio Pizzeria. There is also a lot of convenient stores in nearby walking distance such as Harris Teeter, Giant, Home Depot, Chipotle, Aroi Thai, Union Market, Trader Joes and Whole Foods. There is a $300 nonrefundable pet deposit for any pets (must be approved in advance, deposit is for deep cleaning upon departure), plus a $50/month maintenance fee for each pet. There is a two pet limit in the house and any prospective pet must be presented to the landlord along with applicable shot records for approval. No pet may be moved in after the tenancy begins without express permission from the landlord, or will be seen as a default of the lease. Rent is $2175, landlord pays water, tenant responsible for electric. Short term rentals available for $2300/month and will include utilities and some selected furniture. There is no parking onsite, but there is plenty of available street parking in front of the unit and the streets around the property. $2175/mo with a $1800 security deposit. Owner pays for water, tenant for electric bill separately metered and put in their name. This is NOT a room for rent.
