MID TERM RENTAL - 3 MONTH PLUS LEASE AVAILABLE
Enjoy a relaxing stay at a newer (July 2024), light-filled basement apartment in our classic Portland bungalow. We are located in a quiet residential neighborhood in SE Portland, right between the bustling Hawthorne and Division Street dining and shops. Tons of options are a short walk away. Or, relax in the cozy apartment, and make use of the fully appointed kitchen and coffee bar that we built - just for you!
The space:
The unit is a clean, 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom basement apartment with a separate entrance and laundry and fully appointed kitchen. Built July 2024.
The ceiling height is 6' 9", and some of the soffits that cover the ducts come down to 6' 1" in places. We've installed bump guards on the corners of those, but if you are over 6 feet tall, please be aware.
BEDROOMS: Two separate bedrooms. The primary bedroom is 9.5'X10' with a queen bed, closet and dresser. It also has a tiny desk and a chair. This is what we are calling the dedicated workspace. Please note, it is not a separate office and is shared with the primary bedroom. The other Bedroom is 9'X9', with two twin beds (can be combined to a queen), and a dresser, and space to hang clothes. Both have blackout blinds, and large, openable windows for natural light.
BATHROOM: The bath has a walk-in shower, and heated flooring.
LIVING: The living room has a Roku smart TV with Netflix (Please use the "Guest" profile, or login with your own account) and high-speed Wi-Fi.
KITCHEN: Includes dishes, utensils, a microwave/convection oven combination, and an two-burner induction cook top with vent hood. Basics also include cooking oil and spices. There is also a dishwasher. The coffee bar has a Keurig, French Press, Chemex (my favorite), Conventional Drip coffee maker, Aeropress for espresso, and a cold brew coffee maker.
KIDS: The apartment is not child-proofed, so please bring any items you need for your babies to be comfortable and keep the children supervised.
PARKING: On-street parking on SE 24th and SE Harrison st is available. It's a safe neighborhood; public transport is widely available 90 walk score, 98 Bike Score. The house is located on a "greenway" which is a street optimized for cycling, and you will see and hear some colorful Portlandy bike commuters and groups pedal by. Look both ways before crossing the street!
NOISE: This is a basement apartment in our older house. The house has been fully remodeled and insulated, but you will hear footsteps and muffled noises. We have not received any complaints about this or been bothered hearing guests, but it's not 100% noise separation.
AC and HEAT: The unit is not air-conditioned but maintains a very comfortable temperature being in the basement, even on the hottest summer days. Each room has in wall heat, controllable by thermostats in the wall. There is also an air exchanger in the living room ceiling you can use in the wintertime to keep fresh air coming in without getting cold.
BASIC RULES:
NO SMOKING anything inside the home. We ask our guests not to smoke on the sidewalk by the house. None of our neighbors are smokers, and we want to be considerate of them. Please take a walk to smoke.
NO PETS. We do not allow pets, other than registered service animals. Guests are liable for any pet damage.
NO OTHER GUESTS OR PARTIES: No overnight visitors in the home that are not on your lease. No parties or large gatherings. We understand if a friend or a family member has to stop by for dinner or a movie. We want to make sure we know who is coming in and out for everyone's safety.
Guest access
This is a single-family home and tenants live on the main floor above the apartment. Access to this apartment is through the street entrance on SE Harrison st. There are 6 steps down, with handrails, and exterior lighting. There is a smart lock on the door that takes a code, which we will set up with you during your leased stay. The entire basement apartment (just under 1000 sq ft) is yours with your own laundry.
Neighborhood:
Just across the Willamette River to the east of Downtown Portland, Hosford-Abernethy is a charming urban locale that is one of the city's most popular neighborhoods. This historic neighborhood encompasses several microneighborhoods including Ladd's Addition, one of Portland's and the nation's oldest residential areas. Hosford-Abernethy's microneighborhoods contribute to the area's strong sense of community. The neighborhood association is active and locals look forward to the street festivals and parades that are held each year.
Hosford-Abernethy is known for its beautiful early 20th-century architectural styles but there are modern apartments available for rent as well. Rentals in this neighborhood are typically upscale, but there are moderate and even very affordable rates available as well. Similar to many Portland neighborhoods, Hosford-Abernethy is pedestrian and bicycle-friendly with a rail station and plenty of bike rail located in the neighborhood.
