    What's special

29+ wooded acres in the heart of the Loess Hills and only a mile off a main highway. Miles of groomed hiking/biking trails as the property borders hundreds of acres of DNR land on the East and South sides. Several springs are a short walk up into the DNR land. A deer hunters paradise with Iowa rated at the top for non-typical whitetails and Harrison county being known for one of the biggest ( https://www.thefreelibrary.com/Smoke+%26+snow%3A+the+hunt+for+Nick+Skinner%27s+massive+Harrison+County...-a0274701003 ) . We've seen hunters drop by from Virginia, Michigan and Pennsylvania over the years. The house sits at the convergence of two large watersheds allowing valley access to the state land. The only other access to the state land is via a dirt road more than a mile and a half to the East. This makes getting in and out difficult as the terrain is rough in spots. There is about 3 acres of meadow/field total. The two fields are separated by one of the gullies. The custom home is multi-level. Two bedrooms upstairs share a ¾ large bath. The main level has 3 bedrooms. Two of the beds share a ¾ bath and the master has its own 3/4 bath. The original structure was built in the 1940s with a small addition added in the 1950s and a major addition/remodel done in 1996. All traces of the original 1940s/1950s house are gone. In 2013 my wife and I added another 640 square foot addition with 9ft ceilings in the basement. There is a wood furnace in the basement and a wood stove on the main floor. Excellent passive solar as the house will heat itself on sunny days above 45 degrees. Known locally as “The Hole”, due to being encompassed by hills. This means little to no wind year round. There are two large garden sites and a small orchard. Several fruit trees can also be found in the front yard. Out buildings consist of a large pole building, chicken coop, and an old grain bin converted for storage. Drone footage available at: https://youtu.be/M3JGfBRbFZs The Zestimate for this property is off due to many errors. Zillow had it as a 2 bedroom 2 bath with fewer square feet on only fifteen acres.

This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
