My husband and I have the good fortune to be tucked away in the woods near University Lake, surrounded by trees and wildlife, but only 10 minutes from downtown Chapel Hill. We recently renovated an old shack on our property and turned it into a beautiful, welcoming "tiny house" which is completely private and set back in the trees. There is a downstairs living space with a convertible (sleeper) couch, chair, flat screen tv, chest-of-drawers, coffee table that converts to eating height, and a well equipped kitchenette (large toaster oven, microwave, induction hot plate for cooking, small fridge, electric kettle). Upstairs you will find a super comfy queen size bed and calming views of the forest in every direction. The bathroom is beautiful with handmade tiles, a walk-in shower and an eco-friendly composting toilet*. We are a short five minute ride to the restaurants and shops in charming downtown Carrboro (called the Paris of the south, though that's kind of a stretch!) and 10 minutes to the center of Chapel Hill and UNC. We are very close to University Lake, many hiking trails, and Carrboro's weekly farmer's market. There is plenty of off street parking and the entrance to the highway is only 5 minutes away, or you can drive over to "park and ride" and take the free UNC bus all over town. My husband and I are very low key and easy to get along with (at least we think so! haha) and welcome any questions you may have! *Composting toilets are not on everyone's radar, but they are great for the environment and don't use any water! There's no bad odor at all and you use regular toilet paper. All utilities are included in monthly rent. There is wifi and a smart tv, but no cable. If you choose to get cable, that bill will be a cost you need to cover. There is not a lot of storage space, but we can store some items for you in our garage. In all honesty, this is best for someone who does not have much "stuff". This is a no smoking property. Please- no loud music or big parties. No washer and dryer, but there is a laundromat 1.5 miles away. We have 4 dogs that are outside (within our fence) a lot of the time. This is not an appropriate place for you if you don't like dogs.
