We are a house of nerds in a 4bed/3bath house in San Jose, and are looking for a roommate to fill our spare bedroom. We are looking for the room to be filled in January 1st through May 31st (although longer term might be possible depending on circumstances). The People: We are 3 intelligent/techy/liberal people, LGBT+ friendly; two of us are a couple and one is a friend. We spend a lot of time working, and are usually out biking, hiking, and exploring on the weekends, but we also like to get together and cook/hang out when our schedules line up. We have one sweet female cat who is very shy and keeps to herself in the couple's bedroom. The couple is expecting their first baby in March of 2025! The Place: The house is 1850 square feet, 4 bed/3 bath with a gorgeous pool in the backyard with a great patio, hot tub, and grill. There is plenty of street parking. We have a gym area in the garage. The house is already well furnished so there isn't room for much more furniture outside of the bedrooms. There is a 2 car garage with a lot of tools that is kept fairly clean. The living room area has a projector and some great spaces to hang out. The room we are looking to rent is just over 100 sq ft (not including bathroom and closet), and has a full bathroom (shared with the main house, but pretty much dedicated to the person moving in). The kitchen and pool has just been remodelled! We also have a very productive vegetable/fruit garden in our front yard! We are located right near 280 and 17/880 with great driving access to the highway and biking access to bike trails. Includes: Washer/Dryer 2 refrigerators Central heat pump (AC and heat) Projector in living room Heated pool in the backyard (in the summer) Balance beam over the heated pool in the backyard Our past roommates have been like family; we love being in a community where everyone contributes and everyone benefits. House Rules: the only strict rules we have are: clean up after yourself (especially in the kitchen and bathrooms), have good personal hygiene, and be a decent, respectful person. Rent is $1050/mo not including utilities. It's a communal living with shared utilities and shared food (which also means we all share the burden of going to the grocery store!). Housemate A loves his cat and engineering controls projects. He gets ridiculously excited about electric cars and space missions. He spends his spare time making cool EE/ME projects, biking, doing gymnastics, and BBQing. He loves playing Zelda and other Nintendo or board games and doesn't always understand sarcasm. Housemate A is often voted "most improved" or "best smile" and is adored by everyone who gets to work or train with him. Housemate B is a high energy engineer who enjoys making things (bathrooms, robots, electric cars, art projects, etc.) and doing gymnastics. She will also try to climb anything that's nailed down. She values community greatly and loves to cook for the house, and also values responsible contributions to the household from the others. She spends her evenings and weekends designing/building things, fixing Roombas, practicing gymnastics, road biking, organizing LGBTA pride events, and seeing friends. She can't usually sit still so if the group is watching TV or playing games she'll probably get something cooked but will at least be hanging out. She considers roommates to be like family. Housemate C is smart and kind - he loves solving Rubix cubes and is incredibly good at it; you will be amazed at how fast he solves a Rubix cube blindfolded.
