Grammy’s house A charming bungalow in the shade of a tall cedar tree. Grammy waiting for us on the front porch as we drove up a wide street and pulled into the tree and flower lined driveway. Grandpa stood in the shade of the pecan tree by his shop, waving for us to get out of the car. The lilies were taller than we were, and the flower garden in the back yard was like a secret garden (iris, spirea bushes, monkey grass). The house has easy steps into the back porch with a table covered in the plants Grammy was propagating. We played hide and seek in the three bedrooms, closets, and under the basement stairs. We lost time in the basement while we played with the old toys. And we sat on the floor in the living room while Grammy played the piano or read books to us. The front room had a beautiful picture window where we knew our people were watching us while we played on the front porch and when we hid behind the big bush to jump out at our siblings! Winter time was deliciously warm (with radiator heat), and somehow the house managed to be quite cold in the summer with only the two window a/c units. It wasn’t until we were older that we learned about “the cave” (storm shelter with electricity), the shed, the garage (with an attic) or the coal bin in the basement. We also learned just how much storage space there is in this place. Grammy always managed to get the meal right (in her all electric kitchen with the only oven I’ve ever used that seems to cook evenly and perfectly). Her appliances were older and there was only one bathroom - which was unfortunate with 10 people visiting the house. It was a good thing the other features made it the perfect grandma’s house. There are many changes needed. She lived there 50 years. Grammy and Grandpa are gone now, but they left behind some great neighbors. We're hoping that a new family can fill this beautiful place with more memories. 3 bedrooms 3/4 bath Retro kitchen with wall oven and counter top cook range Storage everywhere Partially finished basement (cement floor) Ceiling fans Appliances included (washer/dryer, refrigerator, deep freezer, window unit air conditioners) Boiler (in good condition) Radiators are covered in all but two bedrooms House trim was re-painted / re-paired in 2014 Sewer line was replaced (from house to the main) in 2016 Gas service was replaced (from the house to the main) in the 90s Electric was rewired in 70s Two car carport, single car garage Workshop (with wood stove) Tool shed External storm shelter
