West Franklin is the main street for a small section of streets to the west of Cooper Street. The houses are 40 - 100 years old and are well-kept. The most common style is Dutch Colonial with a mix of other single story houses with basements and/or with small second stories instead of attics. The area is within walking distance of the Edgewater Park station for the Riverline light rail sytem, Magowan elementary school, and shops and restaurants on Cooper street. The historic and well-maintained Beverly National Cemetery occupies a lot of "green space" nearby. The township is very small, but functions efficiently with its own police force and school system.
