This building is an Italianate style store built in 1885. It is a solid brick structure with a commercial storefront on the ground level and a residential second floor with two bedrooms and two baths. A basement with dirt floor runs the entire length of the building. The upper floor was completely repaired and remodeled in 2018. Fifteen foot ceilings with decorative ceiling tiles, cornices and milk glass pendent lights mark the lower floor, with thirteen foot ceilings and decorative tin ceiling tiles in the living area of the second floor. A balcony is on the second floor west side of the building. Eight foot high windows with stone arch trim are a highlight of the west and front side of the second floor as is a first floor concrete patio in the rear of the building. The large storefront windows define the front of the building. This building is listed on the National Historic Register and is located on the corner where a historic gunfight took place involving Abilene Marshall Wild Bill Hickock. The original downtown located at Texas St is just half a block to the North. The Eisenhower Center, museum and Presidential Library are just a few blocks to the south.
